The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. Fabian Geyrhalter

Fabian Geyrhalter is the Founder and Principal of FINIEN, a consultancy specialized in turning ventures into brands.

For 12 years he has been running the highly successful branding and graphic design agency Geyrhalter & Co, working for clients such as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Goodwill, Brandman University, W Hotels, CO-OP Financial Services, USC, Evolution Juice, The City Of Los Angeles and John Varvatos.

Geyrhalter’s work has been published internationally by the likes of Graphis and Communication Arts, and he was featured on the cover of Graphic Design USA in 2007 as one of its “People to Watch.” An active jury member of the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts and winner of numerous design awards, including 20 American Graphic Design Awards, Geyrhalter is often invited to judge international design competitions. He served as an adjunct professor at USC and Art Center College of Design and is an Advisory Board Member of the Santa Monica College. Geyrhalter is a frequent speaker, a mentor to entrepreneurs worldwide and co-author of the #1 best selling book “How to Launch a Brand.” He is further serving as consulting Executive Creative Strategist at Urban Insight, a leading technology consulting firm, managing the intersection of brand vision and creative digital strategy.

At the age of 21, he became Creative Director at Insyght, developing corporate identity and collateral projects for pharmaceutical industry giants like Pfizer and Lilly. He later served as Creative Lead at Genex, an Adweek Top 50 Interactive Agency, overseeing the emerging online media account for the luxury automotive brand Acura.

Geyrhalter was born in Vienna, Austria and is a graduate of Art Center College of Design.

Sergey Sundukovskiy, Ph.D.

Greg Seymour, DTM

Gregory Seymour is the President and CEO of Seymour Solutions, Inc. where he is a Life and Leadership Coach, Inspirational Speaker and presents a seminar on Leadership and a seminar on Self-Esteem. He has owned four businesses and has 17 plus years in a Fortune 500 corporation where he held several management positions. He was a Fire Engineer/Emergency Medical Technician for 17 years and was also the Fire Dept. Board President the last five years on the department. He was a Special Officer then Dispatch Supervisor for a suburban Police Dept. for over 16 years. Gregory is very active in the community. In the past he was elected and served as a Commissioner for a Park District for two years. He has recently served as the Board President/Chair for the following organizations: Simi Valley Community Council, Simi Valley Center for Spiritual Living, Simi Valley Youth Employment Services Advisory Board, and he has served as a board member on the Simi Valley Community Foundation.

His most recent accomplishment is authoring the book "Growing As A Leader." The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce purchased copies of his book for the 2014 Leadership class.

Wilton Risenhoover

Mr. Risenhoover is a technology entrepreneur with a strong focus on product, technology, and business model development. He has over 15+ years in the Internet and software industry, with a particular focus on consumer-facing financial technology

A sampling of projects he has worked on include: a real estate crowdfunding platform, an equity research platform, a stock market portfolio monitoring tool, a tax reporting and collection system for a state government, and a loan application system for a well known federal agency.

He teaches entrepreneurship and securities analysis at UCLA, and he has a B.S. in Computer Science and an MBA (finance, entrepreneurship) from UCLA Anderson School of Management. In addition, he serves on the Investment Committee of the UCLA Venture Capital Fund.

Ginger is a business strategist, marketer and entrepreneur. She is Founder of an early stage startup -- MediaMark, a movie research company, as well as HUB101, a startup lab focused on helping non-traditional startup founders enter and succeed in the complex startup world. She is also CoFounder of Beehive Group, a strategic marketing firm, with a specialty in multicultural engagement where she's helped clients ranging from tech startups to Fortune 100 companies.
Ginger is a self-described closet-nerd, early adopter and amateur hacker. She received her BA in Humanities from the University of Notre Dame, did graduate studies in Critical Theory at NYU, and received her MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business. She's won 3 Emmys for creative campaigns at NBC, and has been published on topics ranging from apps, to social media, to Latino marketing and engagement. Ginger is an adjunct professor of Marketing, MultiCultural Marketing, and Research & Consumer Behavior at the Cal-Lutheran’s School of Management, and New Media Marketing at UCLA Extension.

Paul Orlando

Mihir Bhanot

Mihir Bhanot is a technologist, entrepreneur and angel investor.

He currently works on Machine Learning and Big Data problems in Personalization at Amazon.com’s Irvine offices. In the last few years, he has led various engineering teams and projects at the Amazon Appstore including internationalization and launch to Europe, Japan, China, Brazil, Australia and Canada and a grounds-up rewrite of the Amazon Appstore for Android Devices. He also led the development of the Appstore on the recently launched Fire Phone, led various Appstore software updates to the Kindle Fire devices and was the engineering lead responsible for working with telecoms/carriers/OEMs on a large number of Appstore deals.

Prior to Amazon.com, Mihir worked at Goldman Sachs where he was a V.P. in Technology and oversaw multiple global technology teams working on position management, automated trading, trade optimization and algorithmic trading/funding/liquidity recommendation systems in the Securities Lending business. He also served on the Advisory Board of the Liberty LEADs program at the Bank Street College of Education in New York, NY from 2005 to 2011.

His angel investments include Giftly, Lovely (acquired), Nanosatisfi, OnBeep, Transcriptic, Visually, Sqwiggle and a number of other companies who haven’t announced their fundraising rounds yet.
